Technological advancements are increasing at an alarming rate in all facets of our lives. This means that there is a constant flow of new technologies and equipment that is touted as being faster and more powerful than older legacy technologies and equipment. The traffic industry is no different.
ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) and traffic control systems use many different technologies and types of equipment and interfaces. How do we ensure that the equipment used in a “system’ is compatible? Are all products equal? What products should be used? The equipment used in today’s ITS and traffic world provides the required flexibility and performance needed to meet today’s challenges. However, this comes with a high level of complexity and sophistication. If the equipment is not set up and configured correctly, the system will fail.
DMD offers their clients a turn-key solution to their problems by offering several value added services that compliments DMD’s engineering and design. These services include the setup, configuration, testing and commissioning of ITS (Intelligent Traffic Systems) and traffic signal systems.
“The proof is in the pudding”. DMD puts their designs to the test by setting up, configuring and testing the equipment as a system to ensure that it performs as it is intended.
Whether it is a single traffic controller assembly, or an Intelligent Transportation System, validating the operation of the equipment at our testing facility in Surrey saves the client and the installation contractor valuable time on site. It also ensures that there is minimal disruption to the motoring public, reducing liability.
What happens in the future when the system fails due to a motor vehicle accident or an act of God? Replacement equipment must be installed and configured to replace the damaged equipment. All facets of our set-up, testing and commissioning process are documented. This means that at the time of delivery, the client receives all of the documentation for the system, including manuals, connection diagrams and equipment settings. This is key to minimizing system down time.
